Character Spotlight | Love Fest!
Coming back from the holidays, we find ourselves a tad shy on Character Spotlights from our fabulous readers. So today, I have designed a tribute to the characters we have been discussing. I encourage all of you who just want to “express the love”, to add a sentence or two via comments. And, should the spirit move you, signup to be a guest blogger for the Character Spotlight, and gush to your hearts content about the Love Interest of your choice. On with the Love!
“If you expect me to get into a tinfoil miniskirt and some thigh-high boots, I want dinner first. Sir.” – Ashley Williams Mass Effect
Ashley Williams caught my attention immediately upon meeting her. Believeable soldier, tough but anxious and fighting with survivors guilt. Her strong will and sharp wit made her a unique character that I truly wanted to learn more about. She quotes poetry, and sticks giant guns in the faces of Krogans, Geth and any other badasses set to impede her duty. What’s not to love!
“When you put it that way, there’s no reason they wouldn’t like you. I mean us. Humans. Ma’am.” Kaidan Alenko Mass Effect
Quipping with Joker in the beginning scenes of Mass Effect, put a smile on my face. Recognizing at once, how much thought and care the writers put towards making this ship, this crew feel “alive”. Kaidan’s warm nature and somewhat tragic past, made me want to reach out and give him a hug. Throw in a great set of talents and skills, and this loveable biotic was a very well balanced teammate. All clear, Commander.
“There’s something compelling about you, Shepard.” – Liara T’Soni Mass Effect
With an exotic appearance, and ethereal voice, this powerful adept connected to Shepard in a wholly unique way. Embracing eternity not only allow Shepard to decipher the beacons message, but had an intimate affect on the Commander as well. Her knowledge on the Protheans and skills with biotics made her an integral part of the team. By the Goddess, what an amazing alien.
“All right, you know what gets to me? You.” – Jacob Taylor Mass Effect 2
Whether you found “the Prize” flattering or funny, Jacob Taylor DID in fact make an impression. For me, his calm presence and matter-of-fact attitude was refreshing. Toss in Incindiary Ammo and Pull, this vanguard can pack a mean punch. Buy the man a drink, he deserves one.
“And perhaps I wouldn’t mind if you admired my body.” - Miranda Lawson Mass Effect 2
Miss Lawson may sound clinical, when first we meet her, but take a chance to get to know her, and she might just reveal a more vulnerable side. A background story that sounds anything but fairy tale, gives insight into this complex character. Her skills on the battlefield make her an indomitable warrior, and her intel on events unfolding make her invaluable. Beauty and brains; she floors me.
“Some women find facial scarring attractive. Mind you, most of those women are krogan.” – Garrus Vakarian Mass Effect 2
The turian, Garrus Vakarian, has been with our Shepards through all three games. Whether a “brother” to Shepard, or a love interest, his winning personality makes him a welcomed comrade. The gravelly voice and awkward moments with a romantically interested fem!Shepared, make him genuinely endearing. Scoped and dropped, my lovely turian!
“You know what it’s like… to think you’re alone and find out you’re not?” – Jack Mass Effect 2
Sounding like she needs a mouth full of Life Buoy soap, this outspoken juggernaut of biotics steamrolled us in Mass Effect 2. Yet, take a chance with her, and she will begin to trust. Show her affection, and she might just melt a bit, revealing a big and wanting heart. So I will take her sailor talk (too similar to my own voice when I am not being careful), and her tremendous gifts on the battlefront, and revel in every glorious moment. And to all those in Jack’s way…..if you hear the words, “Hello dead people”, run.
“I look forward to the memories.” – Thane Krios Mass Effect 2
Calculating, exact. Masterful skills of an assassin. Thane Krios, the first drell our Shepards ever see (and only one of three ever shown in the trilogy). His hypnotic eyes and fascinating eidetic memory, make him an unusual character to the squad roster. This soulful man takes any loyal Shepard to heart, and opens further when pursued as a love interest. To those on the other side of Sere Krios’ rifle….”Go to the sea.”
“…it was totally worth it.” – Tali’Zorah Mass Effect 2
What a spitfire we first meet, while tracking her down on the Citadel. She impresses us with her “tech” know-how, and her intel on Saren. Learning about the quarian people is just the icing on the cake, for this wiley Engineer. Even with her weakened immune system, she will risk it all for a chance to be with Commander Shepard, even admitting a willingness to “connect enviroments” with a female Shepard. Now that is dedication! Keelah se’lai, Tali lovers.
“You’re different from anyone I’ve met… I think I could find more than happiness with you.” – Samara Mass Effect 2
Noble and righteous, we meet a new asari squadmate…and a Justicar to boot! Her biotic prowess is awe-inspiring, and her melodic voice soothes a road weary Shepard. Though true romantic bliss does not come to fruition, the feelings can be felt by those taken in by Samara’s soulful presence. What an experience….only wish it would have amounted to more. Hoping for “justice” for our Justicar.
“Character matters, not race or gender.” – Kelly Chambers Mass Effect 2
Who wouldn’t want a cute redhead, being supportive and keeping you updated on your crew and mission. Quirky and huggable, this budding councilor keeps everyone upbeat, and proves that the “glass IS half full”. And lest we forget, she has mad skills at keeping our fish alive. Well done, Yeoman!
“Not one moment for granted.” – Steve Cortez Mass Effect 3
A superb pilot, and a verbal sparring partner for James Vega, Steve became a welcome friend to any Shepard and potential mate for male!Shepard. Hearing about his recent loss, paints an open and trusting man. With a soft voice, and an easy manner, it is understandable why some would fall for this new crewmate. Love well, flyboy!
“You’re smart. You’re lucky. And…I’m pretty sure you cheat.” – Samantha Traynor Mass Effect 3
She loves chess and clean teeth, but lets face it; she damn well knows how to tease information with her computer talents. She may admire Shepards many assets, but her attraction can be much deeper. My only suggestion, my dear Miss Traynor…..take your clothes off next time you shower.
And for all of the missed or wished for opportunities, I have the following to say: Joker, don’t break your arm getting to Shepard. Kasumi, live in the here and now. Mordin, never too old or too “Salarian”. Javik, forget the airlock, come to the Captain’s Cabin. And James. James, quit flexing and put your money where your mouth is!
Happy gaming, everyone!!

Samara it still hurts *sobs* HI Everyone
Reblogged this on gearseffect.
Hey @gears! I hear ya, pal. Thanks for the reblog!
@Coldi no problem on the reblog and yeah unless one romanced Kaidan, Ash, Liara, Samantha, Steve, Jack, Miranda, Tali, Garrus,we were thrown to the wolves after we’d been beaten, raped, lit on fire, raped again, shot in the knees, a hammer taken to our hands, raped again, lit on fire and then thrown to the wolves. Yes indeed that’s what happened to us who romanced Thane, Jacob, Kelly, and us we loved Samara, and Morinth.
Oh,Kaidan…How sweet!!*sobs*
Jack and Miranda, my favorite LIs. I…..can’t……..pick…….just………one!
Longing for more content with all of them! Each one provides a different look for the game.
Mass Effect 3 needs two things: endings that make a sequel possible and more Miranda.
