Quote of the Week #24

We haven’t highlighted much of one of the Normandy’s newest crewmembers and LI’s, Samantha Traynor.  Most survey participants didn’t leave comments about Samantha (only about 300 comments out of 6100 + survey takers). Samantha was only romanced by 11% of survey participants, so having fewer comments wasn’t terribly surprising.  One thing I have noticed though, I think her popularity has grown a bit over this past year.  Visit a handful of gaming forums, and you can see the fandom being fairly active.

As for fans reactions to her romance, they seem to be all over the place. Some saw her romance as sweet, endearing, while others thought it was poorly executed with the final love scene.  Still others saw this romance as a “filling the quota”, kind of thing.  A need to have a same-sex only romance arc, that could only be engaged with a fem!Shepard.

However you saw Ms. Traynor’s romance, she did make an impact.  Here are some of your thoughts:

“Did not romance, even though I liked her character, because the romance scene was terrible and cheesy and ruined it for me. Really wish someone who was more sensitive, who would have taken the idea of a Same sex romance seriously, had written her. As is, the Traynor romance is horribly cheesy soft core porn, and I will never partake in it.”

“One of the only well done romances, the only issue is how short it is when more should be added.”

“Traynor seems a bit shoe-horned in. It seemed far more plausible for her to have a relationship with Diana Allers than Shepard.”

“I really loved Traynor, but I wanted so much more time with her. I wanted actual cut scenes with her, where I could chose how to respond to her. I wanted to meet her on the Citadel. Basically I wanted MORE. But I really did love her speech to Shepard before the end of the game.”
